Sprain, Strain, Fracture

Breanna had so much fun playing with the kids in Michigan - maybe a little too much at the time she got a sprain in her right wrist. I was a little heartbroken to hear her screaming and crying of pain the first few hours of the incident on Friday night. Fortunately she's able to tolerate her adults to manipulate her harmed extremity and realize that it's not a fracture. There are no snapping sounds nor deformity; she's been able to bear weight on it for her infamous super bark after the incident; she's had severe pain initially, but had subsided a couple days later; some swelling and no discoloration. So it's not a fracture.

I think we've done the right thing so far. She's usually a hyper active child but has retreated to voluntary soft play after this incident - this seemed unnatural to me because it's usual for me to ask her to be more gentle in play. We've applied ice the first few days of the injury and compressed it with an elastic bandage. The only treatment we did not follow was to elevate it, but she seems to be playing fine without this step anyways.

We'll take her to the doctor this Friday, but I'm sure everything's going to be alright. It's so helpful to have nurse Amanda in the family =)

Do I have any control over how much fun she should have?
