Breanna is so independent that it scares me. We crossed paths with a nice couple after church who walked with their son just a few months younger than Breanna. We both admired how our cute inquisitive children explored the xeriscape garden that wrapped the buildings on our way to the car. Most notable to mention was Breanna’s cute 2-year old facial expressions and giddy playfulness. Chatting with our new friends Keith and [?] the kids orbited our presence and pulled out flowers, shrubs and bark. I thought I’ve mastered multitasking - keeping an eye on the kids while engaging in conversation with adults - but it’s so much scarier when our pseudo playground was in the parking lot with possible careless crazy drivers. At one time Liam their son walked into a car's path and Breanna followed. Fortunately she obeyed our call and stepped only inches shy of an oncoming car. Liam was swooped away by his mom. Kids’ curiosity can sometimes get them into dangerous situations.
Top dangerous inquisition with a strong willed Breanna and mommy is in even more trouble. She would not abandon her agenda to explore the busy kitchen of the restaurant post-church and I wasn't mentally/emotionally prepared to give her a time-out in front of all the patrons with my empty stomach. Sometimes I wished that I could strap her with an invisible leash.
I had a nightmare tonight reflecting the same scares of today and woke up with the fear of losing her for real. She’s only 2 years old with already a lot of personality but just wait when she’s 16 and her voice and physical strength is more defined and complex and don’t forget complicated. She already figured out how to give alibis.
